What days/times do you teach Yoga?
Currently Tuesday night is the only community class I offer each week. Class starts at 6.30pm and is located at Strathpine West State School in the School Hall. I do ask that all attendees arrive 15 minutes before class starts, this ensures you are comfortable and ready; and that class can start on time.
If Tuesday night doesn’t work for you, please check out my yoga directory for other classes taught by fellow Yoga Teachers in the area that may be suitable.
What fitness levels and body types do your classes suit?
I teach to a broad range of fitness levels and body types. All classes offer pose modifications or alternatives. Injuries and limitations of all kinds are taken into consideration.
Being able to move between the floor and standing is a good base line – if this is not available to you, please email me. I can find suitable gentle yoga classes or chair yoga in the area. It is important when nurturing an injury or limitation not to push yourself outside of your scope – this may result in further injury.
Please also check out my yoga directory for other classes in the area that may be suitable.
I’m a beginner, can I attend?
Absolutely! In fact, I encourage it. My classes are designed to suit a broad range of attendees – right from brand new ‘what’s yoga?’ beginners, all the way through to ‘yoga is my jam’ intermediates.
All poses are offered in stages, encouraging you to choose your ‘edge’ and ability. You will never be asked to push past your level or ability, instead I foster an environment that encourages you to work where you are. Some days we like to push ourselves, other days we are looking for a gentler class. You choose, it’s your class.
Is there on-site parking?
Yes, there is on-site parking right near the school hall. The parking and pathway to the hall is well-lit. Parking is a short 1 – 2 minute walk. I will open the gate to the on-site parking 20 minutes before class commences.
Are walk-ins welcome?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome. There are no upfront payments or online booking process.
What do your classes cost and how do I pay?
I believe in accessible and afforable Yoga. Your first class is just $15. Following that classes are $20 per person. You can pay in either cash or card at the beginning of class.
There are no surcharge fees for card payment, no online booking process or class passes.
If you come, you pay – it’s that simple.
What style of Yoga do you teach?
I teach a Hatha-based yoga class with Vinyasa flows incorporated — but the heart of what I do goes beyond style.
My classes are grounded in somatic and trauma-informed principles, which means the focus is always on how you feel in your body rather than how a pose looks. Every class includes breathwork (pranayama), mindful movement and ends with Savasana — a period of stillness and deep rest.
The class is designed to gently build strength and mobility while also calming the nervous system and settling the mind — so it’s both physically and mentally nourishing.
Can children attend?
Classes are prepared with adults in mind. For this reason I recommend that attendees are no younger than 12 years old. However, if your child is younger, please reach out. This will be determined on a case by case basis.
Please note attendess 15 years and younger must attend with a paying adult.
What do I need to bring?
While I do carry a small amount of props with me, I recommend bringing a yoga mat, water bottle and thick towel or blanket for seated poses. If you have them, you are also invited to bring 1-2 blocks and a strap.
Yoga mats can be provided for first-timers, please send me an email via the Connect page to let me know you need one.
What can I expect?
Starting something new can be daunting! I wrote a blog post on what you can expect when attending a class with me, you can read that here.
When you arrive I will ask you to read a short standard disclaimer about physical activity and we’ll have a brief discussion about your needs. From there, set yourself up and get relaxed ready for class to begin. I do ask all attendees to arrive 15 minutes before class starts, this ensures you are comfortable and ready; and that class starts on time – I value your time.
