What days/times do you teach Yoga?
Currently Tuesday night is the only community class I offer each week. Class starts at 6.30pm and is located at Lawnton State School in the Performing Arts Hall. I do ask that all attendees arrive 15 minutes before class starts, this ensures you are comfortable and ready; and that class can start on time.
If Tuesday night doesn’t work for you, please check out my yoga directory
for other classes taught by fellow Yoga Teachers in the area that may be suitable.
What fitness levels and body types do your classes suit?
I teach to a broad range of fitness levels and body types. All classes offer pose modifications or alternatives. Injuries and limitations of all kinds are taken into consideration.
Being able to move between the floor and standing is a good base line – if this is not available to you, please email me. I can find suitable gentle yoga classes or chair yoga in the area. It is important when nurturing an injury or limitation not to push yourself outside of your scope – this may result in further injury.
Please also check out my yoga directory for other classes in the area that may be suitable.
I’m a beginner, can I attend?
Absolutely! In fact, I encourage it. My classes are designed to suit a broad range of attendees – right from brand new ‘what’s yoga?’ beginners, all the way through to ‘yoga is my jam’ intermediates.
All poses are offered in stages, encouraging you to choose your ‘edge’ and ability. You will never be asked to push past your level or ability, instead I foster an environment that encourages you to work where you are. Some days we like to push ourselves, other days we are looking for a gentler class. You choose, it’s your class.
Is there on-site parking?
Yes, there is on-site parking right near the school hall. The parking and pathway to the hall is well-lit. Parking is a short 1 – 2 minute walk. I will open the gate to the on-site parking 20 minutes before class commences.
Are walk-ins welcome?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome. There are no upfront payments or online booking process.
What do your classes cost and how do I pay?
I believe in accessible and afforable Yoga. Classes are $15 per person and paid for at the beginning. You can pay in either cash or card. Card payments incur a 1.9% surcharge.
There is no online booking process. Class passes are not available. If you come, you pay – it’s that simple.
What style of Yoga do you teach?
For those in the know, my classes are designed using the principles of Hatha yoga (pronounced Ha-ta). Hatha Yoga focuses on slow, mindful movements, with an emphasis on breath control, mind-body connection and strength building.
My classes also include proper alignment, inspired from Iyengar Yoga, which I am originally trained in. Finally the middle of the class incorporates a Vinyasa sequence – a dynamic style of yoga that focuses on flowing smoothly from one pose to another, linking movement with breath.
Can children attend?
Classes are prepared with adults in mind. For this reason I recommend that attendees are no younger than 12 years old. However, if your child is younger, please reach out. This will be determined on a case by case basis.
Please note attendess 15 years and younger must attend with a paying adult.
What do I need to bring?
While I do carry a small amount of props with me, I recommend bringing a yoga mat, water bottle and thick towel or blanket for seated poses. If you have them, you are also invited to bring 1-2 blocks and a strap.
Yoga mats can be provided for first-timers, please send me an email via the Connect page to let me know you need one.
What can I expect?
Starting something new can be daunting! I wrote a blog post on what you can expect when attending a class with me, you can read that here.
When you arrive I will ask you to read a short standard disclaimer about physical activity and we’ll have a brief discussion about your needs. From there, set yourself up and get relaxed ready for class to begin. I do ask all attendees to arrive 15 minutes before class starts, this ensures you are comfortable and ready; and that class starts on time – I value your time.
